We want to make a change in the customer portal where the customer is required to make a conscious decision about the cancellation service. This is important both to be legally compliant and for customers to actively decide on this option.
Currently, a "Cancellation Service" block appears in the customer portal with two radio buttons: "Yes" and "No." By default, the option is now selected to No. This is not allowed, because the customer must actively make a choice himself.
The new situation will be as follows: the question "Do you want to take out a cancellation service?" will be displayed with two radio buttons underneath:
Yes - With the cancellation service, there will be an additional 10% charge on the accommodation cost (excluding additional options).
No - I will take the risk and choose no cancellation service.
Both options are not yet selected when the page loads. The user cannot proceed until one of the two options is selected. If the user chooses nothing and clicks "Continue" anyway, an error message appears below the block, "Please select cancellation service to continue." Once the user selects one of the options, the error message disappears by itself.
The radio buttons may be placed horizontally or vertically, whichever fits best in the current layout. The explanation about the 10% surcharge may be displayed with the "Yes" option or separately below the question. Make sure the explanation is clear and easy to read.
Test well if:
both options are empty when opened;
the user is obliged to choose before he can continue;
the error message appears correctly and disappears;
the chosen value is stored correctly and sent to the backend.
Note that this change does not impact existing bookings or backend logic. Also check whether the solution is future-proof and, if relevant, take into account multilingualism (currently only Dutch).
