Return owner expand upon check out of shelter animal

At this time, we are still unable to add contracts when an animal returns to its owner. Returning animals to their owners only works under adopt with add contracts and not under check out (as it should). A few weeks ago I mentioned this over the phone and I was just wondering if you could give an indication of how long this takes?
